Ballet is the foundation of all types of dance. Ballet encourages proper dance technique, posture and muscular strength. Dancers are introduced to the positions and names of classical dance steps. Younger dancers focus on movement in ballet which includes fine motor skill development. Ballet classes also introduce barre work which is the basic warm-up used by ballet dancers. These classes focus on technical skills and steps, and perform a ballet dance to showcase the skills learned over the year.
